Functional Fitness
What is Functional Fitness?
Functional fitness is an exercise program in which you train your muscles to work together in everyday movements. In functional training you will do movements such as lunges and squats which are the movements of vacuuming and sitting down. This type of training helps work the muscles together so that the right muscles are used for the right task.
Functional fitness makes use of free weights instead of machines. Machines isolate the muscle such as the leg extension in which you only use your quads, however in everyday actions if you are going to extend your leg you will make use of the gluteal muscles, hamstrings quads and your core muscles.

Why We Recommend Functional Fitness:
It improves your balance, your mobility and your strength.
If you perform functional training on a regular basis you can enhance your brain’s memory of the movements. By improving this muscle memory your body will be more proprioceptive. This in turn will improve your balance and posture. And in focusing your muscles to work together they will assist in maintaining your balance by training your body to manage weight properly.
By increasing your muscles’ strength, balance, coordination, flexibility will help contribute to you the way you move in your everyday tasks and your body will function as one unit.
Reduces your risk of injury
Functional training strengthens muscles as well as ligaments which are the usual suspects in injuries. Another way in which is reduces your susceptibility to injury is by tuning your kinesthetic awareness, this is the awareness of how your body moves which in turn assists in how to move safely throughout the day.
