This form of massage focuses on treating specific and chronic conditions, or injury-related discomfort. We combine neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, and trigger-point therapy. With emphasis placed on the myofascial network, several other systems are affected. This includes the nervous and vascular tissue, together with the lymphatic system. By generating symptomatic pictures that are not always obvious and easy to frame, the myofascial system can be a source of discomfort and functional restrictions. Myofascial pain is caused by the existence of muscular trigger points in well-localized portions of a taut band, which elicit local or referred pain upon palpation or active movement. There are active trigger points, which are painful with movement or even in the absence of movement, and quiet trigger sites, which are unpleasant only when palpated.
