Therapeutic Massage And Other Therapies

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage takes a holistic approach to treating your muscular pain.

We take a holistic approach to alleviating your pain, through the therapy process we will follow the pattern of your body’s pain to locate the cause of your muscle spasms that inevitably present as headaches, cramps and other general aches and pains.

In therapeutic massage we use a range of tools to manipulate the muscles and other soft tissue of the body.

Techniques used in therapeutic massage

In a massage session the therapist will use normal massage techniques to warm up the muscles. We also incorporate fascia release techniques for longer lasting relief. Once the muscles are warmed up we go into the trigger points of the muscles to release the tension in the muscle fibers which cause discomfort.

We use mobilization techniques to awaken the link between the brain and the muscle so that the muscle functions better.

We use passive stretching to allow the muscle to lengthen from its contracted position. These techniques are used according to what your body needs and to mold your body back to its correct posture.

Where does therapeutic massage fall in the recovery process?

Some common injuries like neck and back pain tend to have multiple causative factors. And so it can become confusing as to what one needs to solve pain or to treat an injury. A chiropractor specializes in joint dysfunction and a physiotherapist specializes in muscular dysfunction and rehabilitation. Therapeutic massage therapists focus on range of movement and releasing tight muscles to maintain the body’s abilities.
