RDT-Therapy during Covid-19

2020 has been a roller-coaster for us all and here at the practice has been no different.

In March we were all worried about the uncertainty of the pandemic whether to stay open or close for a few weeks. Then the announcement came that we were going into lock down for 3 weeks. We remained strong and we kept busy during this rare “holiday for all” situation. Anja posted videos about foam rolling on Facebook to assist with those stiff muscles from being couch potatoes or from the changes we faced from working from home. Along with this she started making more time for the things that are dear to her such as baking, bible study and exercise. Raynette kept you entertained with posts of encouragement and well wishes on Facebook. She also learnt to accept the simplicity that lock down enforced and was able to grow from the experience. Monique tried to be as proactive as possible on her reflexology theory assignments and reaped the benefits when the due date eventually came round.

We gingerly opened up the practice in May, full of uncertainty of whether this will work and a bit anxious in learning the new routine of stricter hygiene protocols. However, after the first 2 weeks we became surer in our routine and things almost felt normal.

A big thank you to our clients for the support during this whole pandemic for accepting the changes and taking them in your stride. This made it easy for us to relax and give you the same quality of therapy as we have always striven to give.

Our daily routine has evolved into leaving the reception door open for as little contact of objects for our clients. As the client walks in we offer hand sanitizer and take the client’s temperature. We log the temperature as the client places their loose items such as wallets and handbags in the provided shelves. The client is invited into the therapy room while the therapist locks the reception door. After the session we clean the card machine with an alcohol swab for you to safely insert your card and follow the prompts for payment. Or you choose the option of paying through EFT or through our contactless Yoco link.

We have set aside 30 minutes between client’s sessions so that you do not have to interact with more people than needed. These 30 minutes also allows us to change our towels and give a thorough disinfecting of the room for our next clients. It has been an adjustment of greeting everyone with a smile in our eyes and not being able to see the returning facial expressions hidden by the all important mask. However, everyone has been great sports about the full process and we are most grateful for this. Through the day we wipe down the reception desk and the door handles and at the end of the day everything gets sanitized to be ready for the next day.

To accommodate social distancing we limited the number of sessions a day and arranged the sessions so that the majority of the day we only had one therapist in the practice at a time. Due to the limited sessions we have available we would like to remind you to book in advance to get the time most suited for you.

Monique has been available on Saturdays which will change into the last Saturday of the month in August. These Saturdays and Friday afternoons she has been seeing clients for her reflexology practical hours and has learnt so much from these hours and from the clients’ experiences.

We would like to end off this post with a huge THANK YOU for all of your support.

We would not be here and in such a good position without your loyal patronage.

Keep well and warm this winter and we look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.
